The team gave a great proformance on last weekend to make it to the semi-finals of this tounament. There were a total of 12 college teams entered. The first game was played early on saturday morning against Kutztown University. We played a solid game but due to some mistakes no points were coming until the forwards following some tremendous play walked in a scrum from five meters out and scrumhalf freshman Greg Bassi put the ball down. The forwards were solid and dominating throughout the game. Final score 12-0 Georgetown.
The second game against Villanova was similar to the first. Strong forward play kept the team in the game. Again the forwards pushed in another try put down by Bassi. Villanova threatened to score a few times but good defence prevented that. In the second half James Goodfellow broke out from the back line and just when everone thought that he was gone he tripped but some good support play by Bassi made sure that the effort was not waisted, and scored. Final score 17-3 Georgetown.
The next day we faced Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in the semi final of the cup. It is always difficult to get up on the second day especially to a rainy one, but we made it and dominated the game for the first five or ten minutes. We were by far the best team IUP had faced in the tournament. However we allowed them to start playing their game and after some lucky tries we really did not play for the rest of the game. Hence the final score 3-42 to IUP.
We finished third in the tounament overall. A good result and a great start to the spring season.

SCORING:Well not really knowing what to expect from UPenn we made our way up to Philly. The first half went well we played perhaps with a bit of hesitation. The game started out well for us scoring a few times then alowing them to score a few times. The defense left a lot to be desired. We went into half time dissatisfied with a 19-22 deficit.
However the second half was a whole different story. Suddenly the backs were on fire cutting holes though the defence like swiss cheese. Good support play by the forwards allowed Doug Meisel to score two tries, one down the side line past three defenders and another off of a pass from English James deep in enemy territory. Highlights included a try off the kick off going through six or seven pairs of hands before Jim Goodfellow ran it in. Jim pounded in six tries throughout the game! Freshman center Kevin Oliavera also took his first A side try (hey Zulu Warrior!). Final an outstanding 63-32!

The team won the first game against Perdu (just) and looked promising but a bad draw pited us against Navy in the next round (enough said about that).
Sunday saw us play Maryland in a game we could have one but some sloppy play and uncommitment in the players forced a loss, and we lost our chances to win the plate.

The team had an enjoyable game against those old bastards at Washington rugby club! However it seams that they did teach us a thing or two as they won the game by a comfortable margin.
